Gate bracing
Gate bracing is an essential component of a gate, as it helps to prevent the gate from sagging or warping over time. The braces distribute the weight of the gate more evenly across the entire frame. This helps to prevent sagging over time, as the weight of the gate is less likely to pull down on one side. They also help to make the gate more stable by providing extra support which helps to keep the gate from warping or twisting.
By making sure that the gates are correctly hinged with the bracing rising up from the Hanging Stile it means that much of the load of the gate it transferred to the supporting part of the gate.
Why do gates sag?
Sagging is not always cause by poor bracing.

- Hanging the gate from the wrong stile.
- Installing the gate upside down or back to front.
- Using hinges that are too short.
- Fitting heavy gates to inadequate posts.
