Most people opt for a 50/50 gate split however, in some cases, it may not be practically possible to have a standard set of driveway gates. When space is the consideration you might, for example, choose a gate with a 30-70 split opening.

Wooden made to measure driveway gates are relatively easy to maintain. Charltons recommend modern UV oils (click here for more information). The application of oil can considerably reduce any movement in the timber and maintain the natural colour of your gate. Apply annually or when water droplets no longer bead on the surface.

Coloured Gates

Want a coloured gate? Easy. There are ranges of pigments modern UV oils that are opaque and give a “painted finish”. Osmo have over 120 colours to choose from in their Country Shades Range. Two or three coats of this will give a painted look finish to your gate. As with clear oil this is easy to maintain.
