Description

Our range of made to measure driveway gates are usually manufactured as a pair of equal size gates. They typically have a 50/50 split, with the gates opening inwards inwards towards the property.

However, it is also possible to have an uneven split to suit the specific layout of a driveway. Additionally, gates can be open outwards from a property, as long as they do not open onto a public pavement or highway. This is prohibited by the Highways Act 1980.

Our Courtyard & Driveway Gates offers a range of designs that can be made to measure for your driveway. Each design can be made into a made to measure garden gate or side gate. Either, as a one off design, or to match your driveway entrance. This allows you to choose a design that suits your property and its setting, and ensures that your gate will fit properly. Additionally, having matching gates can add to the overall aesthetic appeal of your property.

Gate automation

All of Charltons gate designs can be automated with the exception of the Hampton gate. These are a larger version of our Hampton pedestrian gates). However, the gates require a heavy duty bottom rail to withstand the stresses and strains of automation.

If you want to automate your wooden driveway gates, it is important to consider the automation methods: above ground and below ground automation. Above ground automation is often used on 5 Bar gates and typically requires the addition of a heavy-duty rail or flush heavy duty bottom rail. The Courtyard & Driveway gate range will also need a heavy-duty bottom rail to withstand the stresses and strains of automation.  It is recommended to consult a qualified installer (Gate Safe and or DHF qualification) for the supply and installation of automated gate equipment. This will ensure that the gates are installed properly and can operate safely and effectively.
